Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Segway® Personal Transporters safe?

Yes! However, like any equipment or vehicle dependent on the operators input and control, the degree of safety is directly proportional to the operators awareness of conditions, such as riding surfaces, speed, and their own sense of ability and comfort level while in motion. It is like riding a bicycle!

Where can Segway Personal Transporters be operated?

While riding a Segway Personal Transporter, the operator is considered a pedestrian. They may be operated on sidewalks, bike paths, and roadways with speed limits up to 45 mph.  They also may be operated on private property, with the permission of the property owner.

You must be at least 16 years of age. Anyone under the age of 18 must have their parent or legal guardian sign waiver on the minor’s behalf.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, you must be between 100 and 260 pounds.

Are helmets required?

Yes. We provide adjustable, sanitized helmets, but, if you choose, please feel free to bring your own.

What type of clothing should I wear?

Comfortable clothes! Flip flops and sandals are not recommended, but are permissible, as long as you are comfortable. Bare feet will not be permitted.

Is there a place to store my wallet/billfold while gliding?

Yes. Each Segway Personal Transporter that is provided by Zero G Touring is equipped with a handle bar bag. Backpacks will not be permitted while gliding.

What else should I bring?

Many people choose to bring their camera along. There will be stops along the way for both the guided tours and cruises. You will be able to safely take snapshots at those times. You might also want to bring along some sunscreen, and possibly a snack and/or drink.

Are there any physical requirements to ride on the Segway Personal Transporter?

Yes! Each rider must be able to comfortably stand, without assistance for the length of their chosen Tour, Cruise, or Test Flight. There will be breaks on the Guided Tours and Cruises, where you can then get off of the Segway Personal Transporter and stretch.

Will I have to sign a hold harmless waiver?

Yes. Anyone who participates in any event provided by Zero G Touring will be required to read and sign a waiver. Anyone under the age of 18 must have parent or legal guardian sign on the minors behalf.

What if I cancel, after I have booked my event? Will I get a refund?

Maybe!  As long as cancellations are confirmed at lease 24 hours before scheduled event, there will be a full refund. Of course, as soon as it is realized that there needs to be a cancellation, please contact us. We would love to try and re-schedule another group/person.

What if it rains on the day that I booked my event?

Zero G Touring is committed to provide the most enjoyable experience possible. Even though the Segway Personal Transporter is water proof, and events are possible in the rain, we reserve the right to cancel events if inclement weather poses a danger, or otherwise deemed a hindrance to a comfortable, fulfilling event. In such case, a FULL refund will be provided.

For light showers, disposable rain ponchos will be provided by Zero G Touring, LLC.
